Warnings, Contraindications and Cautions
Warnings, Contraindications and Cautions: MediHerb Vitamin D Spray
- Cautioned with calcium channel blockers as vitamin D supplementation may reduce the effectiveness of these drugs
- Vitamin and mineral supplements should not replace a balanced diet
- Discontinue 7 days prior to general anaesthesia
- Contains trace amounts of sulfur dioxide
- If patient symptoms persist, seek additional professional advice
Interaction:
- Phenytoin and valproate induce catabolism of vitamin D through liver induction
- Prolonged use of phenytoin and valproate is associated with increased risk of developing rickets and osteomalacia
- Supplemental vitamin D is advised in patients taking phenytoin and valproate
- It is recommended to test vitamin D serum levels to guide dosage
