Victorian Community Pharmacist Statewide Pilot
Blackshaws Road Pharmacy is proud to participate in the Victorian Community Pharmacist Statewide Pilot, a 12-month initiative launched by the Department of Health in October 2023. This program expands the role of community pharmacists, allowing us to provide more accessible and affordable primary healthcare services.
Expanded Services:
Participating pharmacists can now provide certain Schedule 4 medications under a structured prescribing model for:
- Treatment for shingles
- Treatment for flare-ups of mild plaque psoriasis
- Resupply of select oral contraceptive pills without a prescription
- Treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections
- Our pharmacist immunisers can administer select travel and public health vaccines after completing a paid consultation.
Benefits for Patients:
- Increased access to affordable primary healthcare
- Quicker and more local healthcare solutions
- Medication costs remain the same as with GP prescriptions
Eligibility and Costs:
- Pharmacists will assess eligibility through a set of questions
- Referrals to GPs or other health professionals when necessary
- No additional costs beyond current PBS co-payments for pilot medications
- Travel health consultations may incur a fee (discussed prior to service)
